BULK
PACKS OF SILICA GEL
Whilst most frequently used in sachets,
silica gel has a number of applications
in its loose form. These include : use in transformer and breather units, desiccators
and for flower drying. To this end we offer a number of standard size packs, tins and
drums.
500 gram and 1 kg in plastic containers or sealed foil bags.
3 kg or 4 kg in polytins.
10 kg or 12.5 kg in plastic pails.
25 kg and 150 kg in metal
drums.
There are two physical forms
of the silica gels - granular (irregular granules) or bead
(more uniform sphericals) - which are further sub-classified by the diameter of their
particles.
Grades usually available in these packs are :
Non-indicating
(white) silica gel :
0.2 - 0.5 mm, 0.5 - 1.0 mm, 1 - 3 mm and 3 - 6 mm (granular)
plus 2 - 5 mm (bead).
Self-indicating silica gels
:
Orange to Green 2 - 5 mm and 4 - 8 mm (bead).
plus 0.5 - 1.0 mm and 3 - 6 mm (granular).
Orange to Colourless 2 - 5 mm
(bead)
1 - 3 mm and 3 - 6 mm (granular).
Blue to Pink 0.5 - 1.0 mm and 3 - 6 mm (granular)
plus 2 - 5 mm (bead).
Fine silica gels (0.2 - 0.5 mm or 0.5 - 1.0 mm) are suitable for drying flowers.
Dynamic adsorption processes often require a large silica gel (2 - 5 mm or 3 - 6 mm)
that allows air to be passed through them.
For desiccator units, medium silica gels (1 - 3 mm or 2 - 5 mm) are preferred.
When considering a volume to be filled, approximately 700 - 800 grams of silica gel
occupies
1 litre of space, with granular silica gels at the lower end of the range and beaded
materials at the higher.
Granular silica gels pack 3 kg and 10 kg whereas beaded silica gels are
more economically packed 4 kg and 12.5 kg.
Packs and drums are sold in singles or multiples.
Unit prices fall as volumes rise.
We are also able to sell silica gel in other size packs, according to customers
requirements.
